If you’re going to invest both your money and time into a CRM, you clearly want to get the most out of it. There’s plenty I could tell you about how beneficial CRMs or Agency Management Systems (AMS) are in the long run and how you’ll thank yourself for using one. But I’ll just cut to the chase and tell you how to see those benefits right away.
Maintain “Clean” Data
By “clean” data, I mean that your book-of-business is meticulously organized no matter how you’re currently keeping it. For example, many of our clients move their book-of-business from Excel spreadsheets to our software, AgencyBloc. What we have to be sure they have done (in order to import correctly, but also for their benefit) is to sweep through their data, being sure that it’s consistent. So, you look for things like a company name (if you sell group health insurance, for example) that is listed in your book-of-business as “ABC Insurance Company” in one place and as “ABC” in another. Then you ensure this data is listed under the same name.
